SAFEPLAN: Safety Assistance For Every Person Leaving Abuse Now

SAFEPLAN is a program of the Massachusetts Office of Victim Assistance. Through a grant process, BWRI receives federal grant monies from Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) to provide specially trained and certified advocates to offer court advocacy and supportive services to victims of domestic violence who are seeking intervention and protection. Advocates assist victims in completing the 209A paperwork and accompany them to court. Advocates make appropriate referrals and most importantly, help victims develop a personalized safety plan.

Advocates work in collaboration with battered women's programs, district attorneys' offices, police departments, court personnel, legal services, and social service agencies.

You may contact a SAFEPLAN advocate through the Court Clerk's office, or by calling BWRI at 978-537-2306.

Thanks to a grant from the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, SAFEPLAN now has an advocate in the Ayer Dstrict Court, serving the communities listed below.
