Who Can Be A Batterer?

Batterers can be from any socio-economic or ethnic group, any religion, any level of education, any professional or employment field, any sexual preference, any age, and any gender.

The batterer is not necessarily the person in a relationship who is physically larger, or who acts or looks "tough" or strong. Battering can be emotional and verbal. The batterer is the person in the relationship who ruthlessly manipulates the other partner through emotional, physical or sexual abuse in order to control him or her.
